What I do is just as important as why I do it...

Conceived in a trailer park in rural Nebraska, and a product of growing up in rural upstate, NY in the epitome of bygone colonial America, Alek enjoyed a peaceful childhood wrought with climbing trees, scraping knees and freedom to sneeze. Freedom to sneeze? Most infants are born with two heads, a leg and a nose. Alek was born with one head, two legs and NO nose. At least in fact, not the use of his nose. A bilateral coanal atresia (whether correctly spelled or not) is a hardening of the nasal passages during fetal development.

Luckily, Alek escaped infancy without a fear of vacuums resulting from the traumatizing noisy vacuum thingy used to empty his nasal passages in the weeks following birth. However, he inevitably came to fear the noise of a vacuum, especially when they started up their whir; because he knew housework chores were soon in store. Today, Alek is a successful domestic tidy hound...to an extent.

The grief of grade school was alleviated by a healthily wild imagination, while healants for the hardships of high school were found in the washboard, juggling and the Dave Matthews Band (where for many of my fellow teenagers it was drugs, fast cars and sneaking into bars...to an extent.) Graduating seventeenth out of eighty-five in a class where close to thirty entered military service mostly out of nepotism and the rally call of the deceptive events of 9/11, Alek was glad to close the first chapter of his young life by NOT juggling as he walked across the stage to receive his diploma, therefore causing people to lose friendly bets that he would.

With greater freedom, indeed came greater responsibility. Paralleling his brother, Nic(k)'s, choices following high school, but instead in an altogether opposite direction, Alek made the move to Montreal, Canada, mirroring his brother's move to Miami six years prior. As a result, Nick became "the hunk" and Alek "the funk" (defined as: the purveyor of intellectual style and grooooove). While attending Concordia University, Alek found great inspiration through classes in philosophy, religion, science, psychology, film studies, orchestral and choral performance, Rock & Roll history, anatomy, marketing, short fiction and creative writing. Rounding out his degree were elective credits in scriptwriting for film and media, psychology of communication, semiotics (the study of signs), as well as communication theory and ethics. Feel free to contact Alek if you have loads of money you would like to pay him to be a career student...to an extent.

Alek is currently addressless and living on the open road with LA band Run Run Run in which his brother is the player of bass. Not the fish, but rather the musical instrument (the fish however is fast-becoming an instrument in progressive, performance art bands...but no one goes to see them since they smell of dead sea creatures...which is precisely the essence of their performance art). You might call Alek Rx3's lighting DJ insofaras he is responsible for enhancing their live experience with strobes, disco projection balls, Par-Cans and cheapo bowl lights with gels.

And now you know...at least some of the story...
